Workout of the Day

Friday, January 29, 2010

We all have different goals when we walk into the gym. In fact, some might say that we walk in with a mindset to improve in some aspect of our fitness only to find that there is a road block preventing us from even starting on our goal. When Pete came in he had some pretty serious shoulder flexibility issues that prevented him from getting weight in a safe position over head. As you can see from the picture here, he has worked on it dogmatically and is now able to do quite a bit of overhead work, including most recently hand stand push ups. We applaud all of you that have taken your weaknesses by the throat. It takes a big person to look in the mirror and recognize that they can be better. That recognition suggests that we need work, or that we fall short in aspects of life. While none of us are perfect, it is those of us who face those imperfections that are likely to end up closer to the mark. After all, one of life’s most beautiful symmetries is the constant and noble challenge of balancing weakness to strength, and finding ways to improve in one without giving up too much in the other. Nice work Pete, your diligence is inspirational.
